Legion Pulse Pre-Workout Review 2020

Being prepared for your workout is essential – you want to make sure that you are primed to get the most out of the exercise, and that you are starting with enough energy to perform well during the workout.

There are traditional means of doing this, eating certain energy containing foods, and there is this more recent development, of using a pre-workout.

What is a pre-workout? It is summed up pretty succinctly in the name, but it is a more scientific approach than the banana or piece of fruit that people used to eat before they hit the gym back in the day.

Understanding what is in your pre-workout is often not the easiest thing, given that there is a certain lack of transparency from most manufacturers on the market.

This can mean that as well as all the good stuff that is in there doing exactly what you would want the ingredients in a pre-workout to do; there may be some things in there that aren’t pulling in the same direction, or really actually do nothing.

Legion Pulse Pre-workout was created by its founder, Mike Matthews, with the purpose of providing people with more data on what they were putting in their body, and what kind of results they could expect from it, so there isn’t anything in your supplement that you can’t track down and find out what it does.

This is great, because why would you want to be taking something where you weren’t sure of what it was or what it was going to do.

How Legion Pulse works

To fully understand how Legion Pulse Pre-workout works, you have to know how each of the component ingredients works, which we will get to shortly.

Pulse, as well as building energy up, also has ingredients that target your ability to focus as well. This helps you train more effectively. It increases endurance and reduces stress on muscles and muscle soreness, which also allows you to train for longer.

Pulse is designed to improve performance in both anaerobic and aerobic exercise, meaning it helps you whether you are doing weightlifting, cardio, or endurance training.

It isn’t always about what is in the formula either – it is sometimes what is left out. As well as there being no filler in the supplement, there was also a decision made to leave Creatine out, because taking it with caffeine can affect the efficacy of the benefits of Creatine.

We love that Legion are so upfront with the thinking that went behind the creation of the formula – it builds trust to see how decisions were arrived at.

Formula & Ingredients

Legion Pulse Supplement Facts

The makers, Legion, are very open about the ingredients in their products.

Let’s have a look at the key ingredients and what they do.

Caffeine: Pulse contains the equivalent of a Starbucks Grande coffee worth of caffeine which helps you lose weight by increasing the amount of energy your body burns, and it improves strength, promotes muscle endurance, and enhances anaerobic performance [1][2][3].

L-Theanine: Works well with caffeine – it is found mainly in tea. Its job is to increase blood flow and improves your alertness and mental acuity and reduces the effects of physical and mental stress – obviously a great thing for your workout.

Citrulline Malate: This pair of amino acids are found in most fruits and are involved in the creation of energy in cells. As an energy booster, it is easier to absorb than nitric oxide booster, and the improved absorption means it helps enhance physical performance more. It improves muscle endurance, relieves muscle soreness, and helps enhance aerobic performance.

Beta-Alanine: The last thing you want when you are exercising is an acid build-up, and this is regulated by carnosine, which lessens acidity.  Beta-Alanine helps increase levels of carnosine in the body. This helps you to increase your potential workload, and this can lead to an increase in lean mass.

Betaine: Also known as trimethylglycine, this ingredient found mainly in beets and other plants, boosts muscle endurance and increases strength, which it is theorized, derives from its ability to protect cells from damage caused by exercise and therefore helps improve performance.

Alpha-GPC: This molecule helps increase output and prevents cognitive decline, while increasing growth hormone levels. This helps your cognitive abilities during training and means it is easier to maintain focus.

Benefits & Effectiveness

Legion Pulse Pre-Workout is explicitly designed to address particular problems with other pre-workout formulas.

It doesn’t make you sick and tired, meaning that you aren’t going to find yourself suffering from upset stomachs, jitters, nausea, or post-workout crash.

You’ll get sustained energy and more focus, which is smoother because it is light on the stimulants and as a result of the inclusion of L-Theanine.

You are going to get increased endurance, more focus, less fatigue, and better anaerobic exercise capacity.

Any side effects?

When it comes to side effects, they are minor and quickly addressed or tolerated, and they shouldn’t interfere with your training.

You can see that the advantage of having a company that is owned and run by someone who understands the ins and outs of training, and the effects that can result from poorly formulated supplements is that the design of their products is coming from the viewpoint of making the product as functional as possible.

Legion want you to optimize your training experience and to have no issues while you are training, or after the training has ended.

The whole creation of the formula, rather than introducing things into your body that is not natural, and may in some ways work against the body to produce the desired effects, instead uses naturally occurring ingredients that work with the body to enhance and strengthen processes that are already naturally occurring.

There may be too much caffeine present in the supplement for some women. This can mostly be handled by halving the dosage.

A common harmless side effect of beta-alanine supplementation is a mild prickling, itching, or tingling of the skin. This should ease off when you get more used to the supplement.

The caffeine is something where, in order to maintain its effectiveness, you may need to do 1 or 2 low caffeine days and 1 no-caffeine day per week. Again this is something that you can gauge yourself, and may not be necessary.

Usage / Dosage

The instructions for usage are worked out to provide you with the best results based on optimum serving sizes, but there is going to be some room for adjustment to account for a personal experience with taking the supplement. The suggested serving size is two scoops.

For your first time using the Legion Pulse Pre-Workout, it is recommended that you mix one scoop with 10-12 ounces of water 15 to 30 minutes before exercising so that you can gauge your tolerance.

At that point, if you suffer from anything that you would consider non-optimum, you’re advised to consult with a doctor before using it further.

Once you know whether you are okay to use it, you can use 1 or 2 scoops 15 to 30 minutes before intense cardio or weight training which lasts longer than 45 minutes

Does it work?

You can be confident in Pulse and its results. All of the benefits that Legion outlines and the areas that they have put special attention on when creating the product have paid off because those are often precisely the thing that their customers are remarking on.

The product tastes great and works as described. It helps people get consistent results, and it provides people with a smoother source of energy that doesn’t make people’s hearts race too much. There is no sudden crash as with some pre-workouts, which is a result of the L-theanine.

I will be a lifelong member

Our Verdict

We really like Legion products and the way that they are presented on the site.

The whole mission to make it clear what is contained in each supplement, and to educate the users on what they are taking and how it is going to affect them is evident when you check out this and any of their other products.

Understanding what Legion Pulse Pre-Workout is, what’s in it, what it does, and how effective it is, is simple.

The fact that every ingredient is accounted for, and broken down so that you know what it does, makes a lot of sense when you also look at it from the point of view of a company that wants to take on and change a market where filler is prevalent in a lot of different products.

Of course, none of this would matter if you weren’t getting results from the formula.

That is not a problem. Check out all the testimonials on the site, and you can see that people are happy to report that they can get from Legion Pulse, exactly what they expected to get.

You can also see that the ethos of the company resonates with those who have bought from them – they care that Legion cares.

Those post-workout headaches, and those GI problems, and that drop off energy are all coming from somewhere, and they are all pointing to some problem with what you are doing.

Legion does work hard to remove that confusion and those problems from the equation.

We know that when you take a pre-workout, you want to make sure that it works well with any of the other supplements that you are taking, and that you are going to do your research.

Legion makes that super easy, and of course, there are recommendations for what other Legion products work best with Pulse to give you the best results from your exercise.

Even if you were going to use something other than Legion though, the vital data that Legion provides you with about their products, and their willingness to answer any questions that their customers throw up on the website, means that people using Legion are going to be well educated about their supplements.

Creating an informed customer base is a genius move because it means that all those other supplements that are being produced by other companies out there are going to have to answer the questions that their public is going to be ever more likely to ask.

A company that lays it out for you what they are doing, and links out to supporting scientific studies, and is willing to answer any questions that you might have, and best of all gets results, is one that is worth listening to.

At Legwork, we think you should check out Legion Pulse Pre-Workout. The flavors taste great, it helps give you clean energy, and you don’t feel wiped out afterward.
